About This GameOutlaws of the Old West is a massively multiplayer survival MMO with a huge world, thousands of items and a modular building system.
Been having a lot of fun with this. Was skeptical at first, but caved at the mention of Wild West RP.I like that the tech tree is fairly quick to progress through. Within about 3-4 hours of solo play I already had a house, clothes, and a gun, so no 'toiling for 10 hours to have a stick with a sharp bit at the end'. Its fairly quick to get what you want, even if you have 0 idea what you are doing. Just carry over your knowledge of other survival games and you'll do fine.Joining an RP server is 100% the superior way to play. I play on the TwitchRP server (password protected to avoid random griefers, application process to get it) and its a lot of fun because its more 'structured', with there being some rules to try to limit the more primal aspects of people who play these games. No random KOS squads hunting lowbies.
No random unprovoked attacks on settlements. People are more here for stories and a fun experience than to go around dunking on helpless people. There's a bandit gang that will rob people, but won't kill you if you are defenseless or don't try to shoot them and generally only try to take gold and other more valuables rather than everything that isn't nailed down. Raiding is allowed, but leveling a whole town for the fun of it isn't, which is nice.
You can actually have a structure up for more than 12 hours without some squad of 12 year olds shitting on it.Give it a shot. Its got bugs and a bit of performance issues, mostly noticeable in high population areas with a ton of buildings and such, but a fun experience for $15.
